My dog BMO has been my whole heart since I brought him home as a puppy in college. For 10 years, he’s been my best friend, emotional support, and constant source of joy. On February 28th, 2026, we found a mass on his gum line that prompted a trip to the ER vet. While thankfully not an emergency, they stressed it should be removed as soon as possible. We scheduled the removal two days later and received the worst news any pet parent can get: cancer. A week later, the results came back as melanoma—an extremely aggressive cancer that grows and spreads quickly. We immediately scheduled with MedVet Oncology and were advised that radiation therapy could help reduce the already growing back mass and give us precious additional time with our boy. Unfortunately, cancer treatment for any creature is expensive, and the cost is currently a barrier in getting the treatment BMO needs.
Funds will go directly to BMO’s cancer treatments, including staging tests and imaging to identify the current cancer stage as well as if the cancer has spread, CT scans to monitor and identify where radiation treatments need to target, radiation treatments, and related medications for potential side effects.
With the cost of treatment being so high, GoFundMe has set up smaller chunks of goals. In the interest of transparency, I’ve listed where these goals would be allocated:
MET!! Goal 1: $1,800 - Diagnostic testing/imaging for cancer staging (bloodwork, lymph node Cytology, and ultrasounds
Goal 2: $4,400 - goal 1 items, plus CT scans for radiation planning
Goal 3: $11,200 - previous goals, plus radiation treatment, and medications for protection side effects.
We know we aren’t the only pet parents to go through cancer, and unfortunately, we will not be the last. We know not everyone can donate, and appreciate any and all kinds of support. Every kind word and share means just as much to us as we go through this process.
BMO’s diagnosis has been devastating, and we want to do everything we can to have as many good days with him as possible. He’s my heart dog—my constant companion through multiple moves, major milestones, and hard times. And I know he’s got much more fight left in him Thank you for supporting us.
