Help BMMS Odyssey of the Mind Team Get to WORLDS!

Please support our Black Mountain Middle Odyssey of the Mind team in their quest to attend World Finals held at Iowa State University May 25-28.  This group of 7th graders has been together as a team since 4th grade and is so excited to have the privilege of attending World Finals by placing 1st at Regionals and 2nd at States.  They have been working for 4 months to create a circus themed skit where a music file leaves it's Windows world and experiences all kinds of circus-like acts in the Mac world.  In Odyssey of the Mind, the kids do ALL the work and come up with ALL the ideas.  Theo, Michael, Jadyn, Camille, Ethan, Kiana and Peyton wrote the script, composed an original song, created an instrument out of recyclables, made costumes for Eerie (an emo version of Siri), the Crop-o-dile (she gets a little snappy), the computer virus clown with a collar constructed of face masks, and a set made from deconstructed computers.  


After having their last season cut short due to COVID, they are so excited to create and perform again. Now they have the chance to create a lifelong memory by attending World Finals. They will get to compete against teams from all over the world, stay in the dorms on campus, and maybe even be buddies to an international team. Of course, there are lots of expenses associated with shipping our set pieces from San Diego to Iowa and the expense of the campus housing and flights. We are so thankful for the support of the Educational Foundation at BMMS.  Any donation you can provide will make a big difference to our group of OMers.
