We’re organising this fundraiser to help Bluey, a sweet and gentle 5-year-old rescue cat, who has been supported every step of the way by a small team of people who love her dearly.
Bluey has already been through more than any cat should have to face. She was originally rescued as a stray in the UAE and brought to the UK for what should have been a safer, happier life. Sadly, through no fault of her own, she was surrendered again — and once more found herself without a home, unwell, in pain, and struggling to walk properly. Pawsome Love and her foster carers stepped in together, and Bluey finally had somewhere safe to land.
When Bluey first came into care, things were already worrying. FIP was suspected, and because she wasn’t yet insured, the team rallied together to cover those early vet visits, tests, and treatments — without hesitation. From the very beginning, everyone involved committed to giving her the care she needed, and that hasn’t changed.
Since then, Bluey has had a warm bed, a stable routine, and the kind of quiet, steady love that a cat like her — who had been passed from place to place — so deeply needed. She began to find her feet. She began to trust.
Then, just as she was starting to settle, Bluey became seriously ill again.
Her carers noticed she was struggling to breathe and rushed her to the emergency vet. She was referred to the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital — one of the UK’s leading specialist centres — for urgent cardiology care. The team found fluid around her heart and confirmed congestive heart failure. Her heart muscle damage marker was extremely high, and the cardiologist suspects myocarditis, a serious inflammation or infection of the heart muscle itself. After a period of hospitalisation, Bluey improved enough to come home — a moment of real relief — but her follow-up scan showed the fluid around her heart had increased again, and her left atrium is now enlarged, raising her risk of blood clots.
Her case is made more complex by the fact that she also has liver inflammation and underlying kidney changes. The medication needed to reduce the fluid around her heart has to be carefully managed so it doesn’t place too much strain on her kidneys — a difficult balancing act that requires close, expert monitoring.
Right now, Bluey is on daily heart medication, diuretics, and anti-clotting treatment. She has regular heart scans, liver and kidney blood tests, and ongoing care from both cardiology and internal medicine specialists. Her team are also running cardiac troponin tests to track whether her heart muscle is beginning to heal.
Despite everything she is going through, Bluey remains extraordinary. She’s still bright-eyed, eating well, grooming herself, asking for food, and following her carers from room to room. She curls up in her favourite spots. She asks for fuss. She keeps going — gently, quietly, with more resilience than she will ever know she has.
The people around Bluey have already covered a significant amount between them, and insurance covered part of her emergency treatment. But her ongoing specialist care has now exceeded her annual insurance limit, and the costs continue to grow. All vet bills are attached for full transparency.
Every donation will go directly towards Bluey’s medication, heart scans, blood tests, specialist appointments, and recovery care.
Any amount, no matter how small, will help give this gentle girl comfort, stability, and the best possible chance to keep recovering.
If you’re not able to donate, please consider sharing her story — it costs nothing and could make all the difference.
Thank you for helping Bluey get the care she deserves.
