Good day.

I’m writing you this morning on behalf of my dear friend, Marsha Brown, and the Jamaican community. The recent damage wrought by Hurricane Melissa on the region has devastated the island. And while the storm has passed, the true challenge of recovery is just beginning and Marsha needs our help to navigate the overwhelming aftermath in her community.

Marsha, whom I have known for 6 years through caring for my mother, is one of the most generous people I know. She has spent the last 18 years taking care of the members of our Cape Cod community during their most vulnerable end of life period, putting their needs for medical care and daily support often before her own.

Most of the buildings in Bluefields Westmoreland Jamaica were leveled, including the church, schools, grocery stores, and residential homes. Ninety percent of the community is currently homeless and have lost everything they own. Rebuilding after this devastating event is going to be difficult and financially overwhelming.

How Your Donation Will Help:

The funds raised will go directly to transporting supplies and to The Church of Jesus Christ in Bluefields (via Marsha) to help cover immediate and long-term recovery costs. Our goal of $40,000 will help with:

· Securing Safe Housing: Covering the costs of temporary lodging;

· Essential Supplies: Replacing basic necessities like clothing, food, and toiletries; and,

· Recovery & Rebuilding: Contributing to the extensive repair costs homes.

Marsha is a pillar of strength for her family and our Cape Cod community, but she cannot do this alone. We are reaching out to our network and beyond to ease the financial burden and help her beloved Jamaican community get back on its feet.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in their recovery journey. If you are unable to donate please help us by sharing this campaign with your network.

In addition, if you can donate clothing/shoes, toiletries, toilet paper, canned goods, and tarps I will be collecting them for Marsha to bulk ship to her Jamaican community.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

With gratitude,

Dawn
