Help Blue the Miracle Cat Fight One More Time

This is Blue. My miracle. My fighter. My heart.

Blue came into my life 12 years ago, alongside his two identical brothers, when they were just three days old—tiny, fragile, and motherless. I couldn't tell them apart, so I marked each one gently with a different color of marker. Blue got… well, blue. And that's how he got his name.

At first, I had no plans to keep any of them—I had loving homes lined up for all three. But everything changed after a vet visit that shattered and reshaped my world. Blue was diagnosed with not one, not two, but three severe congenital heart defects: a grade 6/6 heart murmur, a rare and complex AVSD (atrioventricular septal defect), and a bidirectional PDA (patent ductus arteriosus).

At just 8 weeks old, I was told Blue wouldn’t live to see his first birthday. The cardiologist gently said euthanasia would be understandable. I asked, “Would it be wrong to give him a chance instead?” The doctor said no—but he warned Blue, would not make it to one year old.

I decided to love him for as long as I could. To give him the best days, even if they were numbered.

That was 12 years ago.

Blue has defied every odd, every diagnosis, every heartbreaking prediction. He has been full of life, love, and gentle mischief every single day since. He didn’t just survive—he thrived.

A year ago, Blue lost his longtime companion. He began crying every time I left the house… and again as soon as I came home. It broke my heart. I knew he was lonely.

So, we brought Nevins into our little family—an affectionate orange kitten full of energy and light. Blue lit up with joy. He finally had a friend again. We did everything right: Nevins was fully vetted, isolated for two weeks, and symptom-free. But in a cruel twist of fate, he was unknowingly a carrier of the calicivirus—harmless to most cats, but devastating for Blue.

Because of his fragile heart, Blue’s body couldn’t fight it like other cats can. He developed painful mouth sores and esophagitis, making it nearly impossible for him to eat. His will to live is still strong—he wants to eat—but every bite hurts. He’s currently hospitalized, on a feeding tube and carefully managed IV nutrition, because traditional fluids would overwhelm his heart.

He’s still fighting. Just like he always has.

Despite his incredible story, Blue was never eligible for pet insurance due to his pre-existing heart condition. I’ve done everything in my power to care for him, but the financial burden has become overwhelming. His current vet bill is $7,768, with at least two more nights in the hospital expected.

And now, I need help.

I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I would do anything for this cat who was never supposed to survive—and yet has given me 12 of the most beautiful years of my life. I feel shattered thinking that the one thing meant to make him happier—getting him a friend—might be what hurts him.

If you can donate, share, or even just send healing thoughts, it would mean the world to us. Blue isn’t just a cat. He’s a miracle. He’s my heart. And he’s not done fighting yet.

Let’s show Blue just how long a miracle can last.

UPDATE:

Blue has started eating and has had His NG tube removed today! Though we know we still have some obstacles ahead of us, we are very excited and hopeful to say the least!

We appreciate all the support and donations. If everyone can continue to share our story to help us get Blue the continued care he needs we would be so thankful. Blue is a true miracle. He is not giving up so neither will I! ❤️
