Help Blue and Ally recover from the Caldor Fire

Donation protected

Hi! My name is Aimee Rogers and I'm fundraising to help Blue Aldrich and Ally Pardew recover from the Caldor Wildfire in California. Yesterday, 8/16/21 the Caldor Wildfire devastated the small mountain town of Grizzly Flats in Cali. Blue and Ally's home was completely destroyed, but both they and their animals are safe at a relative's home.

I've known Blue and Ally for nearly 2 years through our historical organization and have worked with Blue within that organization. I am from Reno, Nevada.

Allow me a few moments of your time to share what I've learned by being Blue and Ally's friend. Both Blue and Ally are members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) in the Kingdom of the West (California and Nevada).

Blue, who is Deaf, is a kind, loving person that advocates for the Deaf Community and owns their own business which they run from their home. They teach classes on Sign Language and Deaf Culture and seek to improve the Accessibility and Inclusivity of people with exceptionalities through advocacy and education. Blue, or Laird Odd as they are known in the SCA, is the founding force behind the Muted Emissaries which provides language support for the Visual Language Community members of the West Kingdom. Their partner, Ally Pardew, is a wonderful woman. She is passionate about her advocacy topics and loves animals. Ally is a mentor for trans youth and new fighters in the SCA.

Recently, about a month ago actually, Ally's kitty, Elmo had to have a leg amputated because he was hit by a car. Ally and Blue dropped everything and rushed Elmo to the vet and saved his life spending their savings and maxing their credit cards to do so.

Now they face the loss of their home and Blue's business from the Caldor wildfire. They managed to get 2 carloads of things from the house before evacuating to a family member's home. Blue has lost their entire online business. Their entire stock was lost when the workshop went up in flames. The only possessions they were able to fit into their vehicle were items they would need such as clothes, animal food and medicines, toiletries, and a few special pieces which are dear to them. Everything else is a loss.

I'm hoping by establishing this GoFundMe we can give Ally and Blue a firm foundation to rebuild their home and business.

Through the money donated, Ally and Blue will have the means to survive while insurance processes their claim and the funds are retrieved. They will have to live with family until the house is liveable and the money donated will help support them over the next few months to a year while they recover. Please help if you can. Any assistance even through sharing a link to this GoFundMe will help Ally and Blue recover from this devastating fire. Thank you.
