Help Blu Get The Emergency Care She Needs

Update 10/17: Blu had a recheck at the vet today. Her glucose levels have decreased some, but are still elevated. Her insulin dose is being increased. She has a recheck in a week from now.

Update: Blu is now receiving treatment on an outpatient basis. She's going to the vet every two days to monitor her glucose and hydration levels until they become stable. She's going on a strict care plan that includes insulin injections every 12 hours, fluids for hydration, antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection, pain medications to keep her comfortable, and a prescription diabetic diet. So far it's helping, her ketone levels have decreased significantly and she's responding to the insulin.

Her young age gives her a strong chance of getting better and eventually going into remission. She's already showing signs of having more energy.

Even though she's home, the costs are still rising. The vet visits every other day, medications, insulin supplies (needles/syringes), puppy pads (due to urinary issues), prescription food, and other supplies to keep her stable and comfortable are adding up quickly.

Thank you for all the love, support, prayers, donations, shares, and kind messages. It's a tremendous help.

Hello everyone,

On Saturday October 11th, Blu started vomiting and was experiencing diarrhea. I rushed Blu to the Emergency Vet where she was diagnosed with diabetes and diabetic ketosis. Her blood glucose was at 409, which is more than double the normal range. This is a life threatening complication. She needs immediate hospitalization to treat this issue and stabilize her; which includes IV therapy and round the clock care.

I was quoted $8,000 for emergency care alone, not including the aftercare she'll need to manage her diabetes for the rest of her life. I am doing everything I can for her but I simply can't afford that kind of bill upfront.

Blu is more than just a cat, she's family and deserves to have a chance to fight this. She's the sweetest cat and it breaks my heart to have to watch her suffer like this.

Anything you can donate will go directly to Blu's emergency treatment, medications, and follow up care. Even if you are not able to donate, simply sharing this will be a huge help. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
