hiya❤️,

I’m Nuri a.k.a BlondietheBaker.

I’m a Nigerian queer artist who’s been spending the last few months pouring into the craft of Nigerian Claywork in order to keep the art style alive and in the hands of the people and not just an art form that’s limited to view in British museums. I’m trying to build something that not only helps me survive but also creates space for people like me to feel safe and seen through the foundations of art therapy.

I’ve been working in/applying to jobs in EDI and community support. Roles that let me keep showing up for queer, poc, and marginalised folks in meaningful ways. From access to culturally sensitive counselling services and housing to helping build spaces where we can create, breathe, and just be in Nottingham.

Right now though, I’m living and working in my studio and trying my best to manage rent, bills, and daily costs while still making art and making music (which I’m working towards to get me nominated for a Global Talent Visa) and doing a lot community work. it’s been quite difficult managing that alone, and that’s why i’m asking for help❤️.

This gofundme has been made to hopefully help me get through the next 3 to 4 months while I continue applying for jobs and growing my creative network to hopefully fulfil my dreams of being a professional sculptor and musician, honouring my cultural heritage and hopefully getting a Global Talent Visa to fulfil my dreams of creating art that continues to spread awareness for my community and build hope for people like myself.

Your support — whether it’s donating, sharing, or buying a piece of art from me!❤️ — genuinely helps me keep going and keep doing what I love with care and consistency.

Thank you for even reading this. I appreciate you more than you know. I take every donation seriously and see them as an  investment in the success and creativity of my craft, but also an investment in the community I’m trying to build where we support the creative culture in not just Nottingham but also the world around us.

I’m really hoping you invest in the potential of my art and my work.

With so much love,
Nuri✨
