Urgent Appeal: Vulnerable Children in Africa Need Your Help
I have just returned from a life-changing volunteer trip with Living Water Children’s Fund (a U.S.-based charity), working across Kenya, Tanzania, Tabora, and Mwanza. What I witnessed has shaken me to my core.
These children are some of the most vulnerable in the world — blind, deaf, unable to speak, living with disabilities, battling sickle cell disease, malnourished, and trapped in extreme poverty.
I also met children with Albinism, many of whom are hunted and persecuted by their own communities because of dangerous superstitions. These children are forced to live in secure orphanages just to stay alive.
The conditions are heartbreaking:
- Cramped, overcrowded living spaces
- No mattresses to sleep on, just cold floors or 3 children squeezed into a single metal bed
- Food is so scarce that a single bowl of porridge a day is considered a treat
- Education provisions are almost non-existent, with little to no resources to support learning
- Facilities already overstretched, with children urgently waiting to enter but no capacity to take them in
And yet, despite everything, they smile. They dream. They try to learn. Their resilience is remarkable — but their situation is desperate.
