Help the BLC 2029 Team Fight Parkinson's

Donation protected
The Bethesda Lacrosse Club (BLC) 2029 Blue team is fundraising for the Bigfoot Lacrosse Classic - a fun day of six-on-six lacrosse, bringing together some of the best middle school boys & girls lacrosse talent in the area for skills development and competition. In addition to the fun, the Bigfoot Lacrosse Classic will raise money for Bigfoot Endurance, which is a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for research for Parkinson's. All proceeds raised from this event will be donated by Bigfoot Endurance to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's and improving the lives of those living with the disease. They have funded over $1 billion in research projects since 2000, and they are accelerating the development of new therapies and treatments.

This fundraiser is especially important for the BLC 2029 Blue team because their long-time assistant coach - Katie McLaughlin - was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson's Disease in October of 2023. Parkinson's is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement, balance, and coordination. There is no cure for Parkinson's, and the symptoms can vary from person to person. Coach Katie has always been an athlete, and she credits her love and passion for lacrosse for keeping her well and maintaining mild symptoms. Lacrosse is a team sport that requires speed, agility, endurance, and strategy. Coach Katie started playing lacrosse when she was in middle school, and she continued to play throughout high school and college. Since graduating from Fairfield University, she hasn't put her lacrosse stick down.

Coach Katie teamed up with Bigfoot Endurance to create the “Bigfoot Lacrosse Classic” with the goal of raising money for a cure for Parkinson's, as well as to inspire young athletes that what they are learning on the field will prepare them for the competition life throws at them in the future.

Please help us reach our fundraising goal and support our Coach in the fight to find a cure for this disease!
