I am a Sonoma County softball player and I want to share the story of my fellow player, Blanca Ruiz. She is a senior at Sonoma State University, living on her own, currently working two part-time jobs. She works with children who live with developmental disabilities (and is also a top-notch babysitter), as well as with senior citizens through her job at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sonoma State.
While playing second base in a co-ed softball game in August, Blanca was hit in the face by a ball, knocking out her top front tooth. After spending a night in the ER, she learned doctors would not be able to reattach the tooth. Blanca was referred to an oral surgeon who performed a bone graft. She will still be facing dental implant surgery to replace the missing tooth. Unfortunately, her dental insurance will only cover a small portion of her implant surgery. Her bills from this accident already total over $7,000 (and she still needs to get an estimate for the implant!).
Blanca is a kind, thoughtful, hardworking college student and she does not deserve the uncertainty and burden of the looming dental bills she will face. All funds donated will be used to finance her dental implant surgery. Any amount you’re willing to contribute will help defray those bills. If you are not able to contribute at this time, please pass Blanca’s story along to your friends and family. Thank you!
