Blanca Garcia has been a very hardworking individual her entire life. Anyone who knows Blanca can say that she is a "go-getter" who has always been determined to do whatever necessary to support her family. Blanca's current circumstances have left her unable to work and she can no longer support her family. Last summer, Blanca unexpectedly had an injury on her left foot that eventually progressed into a disabling condition known as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). CRPS is a nerve condition that is not widely known or understood, but victims describe it as an unbearable fire sensation on your skin. This condition is also called the
'Suicide disease" as treatments for it are extremely limited. This is a nerve condition that can affect individuals of all ages and walks of life. Blanca's life took a sudden turn when she found out she has CRPS. She went from being an active and joyful person to experiencing daily anguish and pain. Blanca has tried common treatments for CRPS such as steroid injections, several medications, and physical therapy, however, none of these treatments have made a profound difference in Blanca's pain. Blanca's ultimate goal is to be able to go back to work and to feel like herself again. Blanca is young and she does not want to give up. The reason this GoFundMe page was set up to help Blanca raise the money necessary to see CRPS specialist doctor Katinka van der Merwe. Doctor Katrina van der Merwe offers a CRPS treatment unlike any other in the U.S as she and her team get to the root of the cause of CRPS and treat the body from the inside out. Blanca is optimistic about this treatment, but in order for it to be a possibility for her, she needs funds for the treatment and to be able to relocate to Arkansas for the length of the treatment which is three months.
