Help Blanca get medical treatment

Hi, my name is Sarah and I created this GoFundMe to raise enough money for Blanca's medical treatment. A few weeks ago on December 28th, 2022 Blanca developed tremors similar to what you would see in a severe Parkinson's or Tourette's patient. She was diagnosed with Functional Movement Disorder (FMD) which is caused by the basal ganglia nerve in the neck, the same nerve that causes Parkinson's Disease. Blanca has been unable to work or drive, and during her episodes she is unable to walk or sometimes talk properly. This condition that came on all of a sudden has completely stopped her life.

After a few hospital trips, seeing a specialist, and the standard physical therapy that insurance covers Blanca was referred to Northwest Functional Neurology . They ran tests on her and were able to identify which parts of her brain are being affected and came up with a treatment plan. They are recommending a week of intensive therapy to try and change the way her brain is operating and responding. I sat with Blanca and listened to the doctor explain the different things they would be doing, but I can't say I fully understood. What I did understand was he hopes this will improve her symptoms by 70-80%. She may be able to work again and get some normalcy back to her life. This therapy would be 8 hours a day for 5 days and then she would continue part of it at home. Sadly, her insurance does not cover it.

This week of treatment is expected to cost $9,650 including the initial appointment she paid for. Blanca has no choice but to try this. GoFundMe charges transaction fees, so I am setting this fundraiser for $10,000 to ensure those fees are covered too. Blanca is an amazing artist, and she still has so much creativity and beauty to put back into the world. She is a loyal mother who would do anything for her kids. She has been a great friend and it breaks my heart to see her suffer and lose so much.
