Help Blanca Get Life-Saving Surgery

Years ago, a woman handed my pregnant mother her baby and asked if she could hold her while she went to the bathroom. She never came back.

The baby—just 8 months old—was malnourished, sick, and abandoned. My mom took her home, got her medical care, and raised her as one of her own. That baby is Blanca, my sister.

Blanca’s early life was full of challenges—health issues, learning difficulties, and the lasting scars of abandonment. As a young adult, she searched for her birth parents, only to be rejected again. She spiraled, became a single mom, and struggled to find stability.

But she never gave up.

Blanca went back to school, became a paralegal, found steady work at a university, fell in love, and had another child. For the first time, she was truly happy.

Then came the diagnosis: a liver tumor. She’s been unable to work, and all her savings have gone to medical visits and testing. The surgery she needs isn’t available in public hospitals in Honduras. Her only option is a private hospital, and the cost is $7,500—far beyond her family's means.
