Help get Blake back to golf

Thank you so much for supporting our fundraiser to get our dear friend Blake, who was paralyzed in a snowboarding accident in February, a special wheelchair that will enable him to rejoin the high school golf team when he returns to school!

The VertaCat is a stand-on-command, all-terrain mobility rider that will enable Blake to move around the golf course and stand to swing and putt. It will carry his golf bag and it can even fit in the back of a car for easy transport to golf meets. You can learn more at https://vertacat.com.

More about Blake's story:

On Sunday, February 25th, 2024, we were skiing and snowboarding in Tahoe when our friend Blake experienced a catastrophic accident. Blake caught an edge on his snowboard and crashed into a tree. His spinal cord was severed and he was immediately paralyzed from the chest down. We watched in horror as he was airlifted off the mountain and taken to Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada where he underwent multiple hours of emergency neurosurgery. He then spent several weeks at Renown recovering until he was able to transfer to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Colorado on March 12th. He spent two months at Craig healing, learning how to use his wheelchair through all aspects of life, and building strength in his upper body.

Now he's home, and while he continues to work hard in physical therapy and prepares to return to school in the fall, we're doing everything we can to spend time with and support him. We are enjoying weekly BBQs, ping pong matches, water balloon fights, swimming and races against Blake on his Firefly.

Blake is constantly amazing us with his bravery and incredible "Never back down, never give up" attitude. He faces his daily challenges head on and doesn't shy away from living his life to the fullest. He's even already gone para-wake surfing, only four months after his accident. Now we want him back on the golf course.

Blake is an extremely talented athlete. Before his accident he had completed an amazing Freshman football and JV soccer seasons at our school, Vintage High School. He had just made the JV golf team and we were looking forward to a competitive and fun season.

We want to pick up where we left off so we can golf together this summer and so Blake can rejoin the Vintage golf team when he returns to school.

In order to play, Blake needs a special wheel chair. So, we are raising funds to purchase him a VertaCat (which is what Blake is using in the photo above).

This GoFundMe will be a huge part of our fundraising, but we'll be hustling to raise money in other ways in order to reach our goal as quickly as possible. If you have ideas, please don't hesitate to let us know!
