As many of you know, my husband Blake has been battling serious health issues for the past six years: including chronic Lyme disease, Bartonella, heavy metal poisoning, and the mental health illness that came with it. These illnesses have completely changed our lives, but through it all, God has been faithful and we’ve continued to see steady signs of healing and hope.

All of Blake’s treatments over the years have been out of pocket and extremely costly. He’s been disabled and unable to work since becoming sick, and I’ve been doing everything I can… working, raising our six children, and being his full-time caregiver. It’s been incredibly difficult, but God has continued to provide in every season.

Now that we have done all we can to treat the Lyme, bartonella, and heavy metals, we have been looking for the best next step to fully heal his brain and get him back to thriving and living life to the fullest once again. This past week, we visited the Amen Clinic in Atlanta, Georgia to have specialized SPECT brain scans done to help us understand this next step in Blake’s healing. We finally received the results, and while we’re so thankful to have answers, the next phase of treatment will cost over $15,000 out of pocket.

The good news is, the doctor is very optimistic that with this plan, Blake could be healing and back to working (and hopefully stepping back into ministry, where he has always felt called) within the next couple of years. We’re clinging to that hope and trusting that God will make a way.

Part of his new treatment plan includes:

• Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) 3x per week to help repair the brain, promote the creation of new blood vessels in parts of the brain that are under functioning due to his toxic exposure and illnesses, and support detoxification. The closest HBOT clinic to us where we are currently living is almost two hours away, and each session costs over $200. With a minimum of 80 sessions to start, that alone would cost more than $16,000. After much prayer and research, we’ve decided it would be far more practical and cost-effective to purchase a portable hyperbaric chamber for our home (approximately $8,000). This will allow Blake to safely do treatments from home without the financial or physical strain of travel.

• A new supplement and nutrition protocol designed to support his brain and body during recovery.

• Micro-neurofeedback therapy, which will help rebuild healthy neurological pathways as his brain heals. We will begin this down the road once we have completed the HBOT treatments. I am unsure of the cost of this yet.

Unfortunately, none of this is covered by insurance, and I’m doing my best to manage work, caregiving, and caring for our six children. We’re asking for help to raise the funds needed to get Blake the treatments and tools that can finally help him move toward FULL AND TOTAL RECOVERY! Praise the Lord!
