Hi, my name is Sydney Tauiliili, and I’m fundraising for my husband Blake — my best friend, the love of my life, the best father, and the most faithful, kind-hearted man I know. In July 2024, after a bad car accident, Blake underwent emergency surgery that unexpectedly revealed cancer. By God’s grace, the surgeon was able to remove as much as possible which we are very grateful for seeing as he isn’t eligible for another removal surgery until his tumor shrinks. After the accident we learned he has an extremely rare and aggressive cancer as well as an extremely rare tumor: Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT) and Peritoneal Carcinomatosis, which together affect fewer than 150 people worldwide each year. After enduring the strongest chemotherapy available, Blake’s body could no longer tolerate more, and the system had no further standard treatments to offer. He’s now on an off-label drug called Cabometyx to slow the disease, but there’s no cure or established plan — we’ve had to find our own path forward.

Why We’re Asking for Help: The Places We’re Trying to Get Blake To

After Blake had to stop chemotherapy and was told he wasn’t a candidate for HIPEC surgery, we were left with no clear path forward. The conventional system had nothing else to offer us — no cure, no plan, and no insurance coverage for alternatives.

That’s when we started praying, researching, and seeking out any doors that might lead to healing. Thankfully we’ve come across many options that could possibly cure Blake but theyre expensive but offer something critical: hope. And are currently out of reach financially without help.

1. City of Hope — A Potential Lifesaving Clinical Trial

Multiple doctors independently recommended we reach out to City of Hope where they’re conducting a clinical trial specifically for people with peritoneal carcinomatosis — Blake’s exact diagnosis. The trial is testing PIPAC, a treatment that uses a pressurized chemo mist delivered directly into the abdominal cavity. It allows for lower doses of chemo, fewer side effects, and has already shown promising results in shrinking tumors and improving quality of life.

This trial isn’t available anywhere else in the U.S. right now. It could be life-changing for Blake but insurance doesn’t cover the initial consultation required to determine eligibility. We have to pay $3,000 out of pocket just to find out if Blake can enter the trial. And if he is eligible then every appointment and treatment after that is going to be completely out of pocket. That being said we do believe this is a door God has opened — we just need help walking through it. This will be the first avenue we go down with the donated money the moment we have enough for appointment 1. 

2. Hope4Cancer — The Faith-Based Healing Center We’re Ready to Send Blake To

This is a facility in Mexico that treats Blake for 3 weeks and sends us home with incredible medical equipment/ medications to continue treatment for a full year after he gets discharged. This is not just an idea we’re considering. We have his treatment plan in hand. It is fully customized, and Blake has already been accepted as a patient. We just need help getting him there. This treatment plan includes: 

3-Week In-Patient Treatment Program – $32,000

Daily, customized therapy sessions (Monday–Saturday) with highly trained medical staff

A hospital room for Blake with meals and transportation

Initial and ongoing medical evaluations, lab work, imaging, and vitals

IV-based therapies (administered multiple times per week) targeting both cancer and immune health

A medication that has been eliminating DSRCT in other people who have his same cancer. We are in a Facebook group where we connect with hundreds of other people affected by this cancer. There are many people on this medication that are seeing great results on it, and we want to get Blake switched from Cabometyx to this drug instead immediately. This is a drug that won’t be covered by insurance since we need to see a different oncologist (pay out of pocket ) to get it prescribed. This is a medication we want for him urgently. 

None of these are covered by insurance. And while we’re ready and willing to do the work — to pack up, travel, and begin this healing — we simply don’t have the money to go through with these options and we’re doing everything we can to reach that goal.

Our need as of right now is to raise $65,000 — this will cover Blake’s full treatment plan at Hope4Cancer, the consultation/ likely treatment at City of Hope, the appointments we need to get Inhertu and the additional expenses we know are coming: airfare, local travel, lodging near the clinics, pharmacy costs for supportive medications not included in his protocols, and the kinds of unexpected medical needs that always arise in situations like this. Every bit of it goes toward helping Blake stay alive, continue healing, and be present with his family. We’re trusting God to open the doors — and believing He’ll use people like you to help us walk through them. 

If 65,000 people donate $1 then we can embark on the journey to save my husbands life. This cancer is extremely aggressive and time isn’t something we are taking for granted.

We know this is a battle most people never imagine facing. But we are standing in faith, believing for complete healing, and holding tight to the promise that God is near to the brokenhearted.
