Blake was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in June 2022. After months of being sick and not feeling well, and countless visits to the doctor and urgent care, he received the news he was not expecting. Cancer!
AML is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells. AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
Blake started treatments in Sumter, SC with his induction round of chemotherapy (7 +3). He had a very rough time and ended up in ICU. After three more rounds of chemo, he was referred to MUSC in Charleston and Greenville for stem cell transplant consultations. It was finally decided Blake needed special care that could not be provided near home. Blake has been admitted to Augusta University Medical Center. He has undergone yet another round of intensive chemotherapy (FLAG-IDA). The plan now is to proceed with a Stem Cell (bone marrow) transplant. This will require a 4-6 week stay in the hospital and at least a 100-day stay in Georgia.
Money raised from this fundraiser would be used for travel, lodging, and medical expenses.
Blake has been out of work since May 2022 and Beth is currently out of work on FMLA. This sweet family would welcome any donations, prayers or well wishes. They have put their faith in God and we, their family and friends, hope that God will move through his children to help provide for all their needs.
