Help Blair Chatfield heal from thyroid cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Luanne and I'm fundraising for one of my oldest and closest friend's daughter, Blair.

Please read Blair's story and journey with thyroid cancer below! Blair is only 30 (turning 30 on Feb 16).  The money raised here is only to support Blair and cover her rent and expenses while she’s healing and unable to work. Her amazing family is helping her in every other way with everything else.

Thank you so much for your support. Any amount you are able to donate is so helpful for her!

Blair’s Story
"In September of 2020, I was in class and my teacher asked if there was a volunteer to have their thyroid scanned so she could show the class the proper protocol. That's when I found out I had a thyroid nodule. Thyroid nodules are VERY common, especially in women, so I didn't think much of it. Once I started clinicals, multiple techs convinced me to get further testing done. After over a year of going to different doctors and having countless ultrasounds and biopsies done, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer just two days before Christmas. Although I knew the prognosis was probably good, I couldn't help but feel a bit defeated. However, what kept me going was realizing that everything truly does happen for a reason. Had I not decided to go to ultrasound school, and not decided to volunteer to be scanned in class that day, I never would've known. Other than feeling a bit lethargic and tired all the time (which I figured was from the hustle of being in an ultrasound program), I had absolutely no symptoms and would have never thought to go get my thyroid checked.

Fast-forward to today, I'm relieved to be able to say I'm scheduled for surgery and on the road to recovery. I'm forever grateful for my amazing family and friends who have helped me through this tough time. I've had the most incredible support system and couldn't imagine having to go through this alone.

I've been very hesitant on whether or not to share my story, so if you're still reading, thank you for taking the time to listen. I feel it's extremely important to spread awareness and normalize the fact that cancer has no preference of age, gender, race, etc. If you feel something is off, listen to your intuition and go get checked. Chances are it's not cancer, but It's always better to be safe than sorry. If for whatever reason you find you can't afford to or are unable to do so, please contact me so I can arrange for you to have the proper testing done."
Love you all, Blair #fuckcancer

UPDATE: Surgery to remove the portion of the thyroid with cancer was done 2/3/22 and was successful, so we thought. Pathology report came back Monday which showed Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma which had aggressively spread to the rest of the thyroid and lymph nodes. Follow up surgery is scheduled for 2/11/22. The cancer is known for being treatable and has a good prognosis. Praying this next surgery is successful and we can move forward treatment and healing❤️‍.
