Blackjack, our beloved miniature donkey, has always been a gentle and cherished member of our family. Recently, our world was turned upside down when Blackjack was viciously attacked by two dogs. The attack left him with severe injuries, and we found him the next day stuck in a muddy bog, his face torn and his spirit struggling. He was in the hospital for 30 days, since 2/24/2026, fighting for his life. He made it though, but is missing most of his muzzle (top lip and nostrils). It will be a constant battle we have been told with his gums and teeth because they are always exposed. We were hoping that the owners of the dogs will step up and cover his medical costs, but it does not look like it and we will need to start a civil suit.

The outpouring of support from our community has been overwhelming. Friends, neighbors, and fellow animal lovers have reached out with prayers, kind words, and encouragement. Many have asked us to start this GoFundMe, and while we never wanted to ask for help, we realize now that we can't do this alone. In addition to Blackjack's medical needs, we are reinforcing all of our fencing and installing cameras around our paddocks, barn, and home to protect our other miniature donkeys, goats, and horse from future attacks. We also need help

with legal expenses and future care. The vet bills are at about $10,500 currently.
