Help Black Queer Couple Fight Eviction

My name is Devon Price and I am coordinating this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Jae and Christian.
Jae and Christian have both been passionate public health advocates for over a decade. They have contributed invaluable work in the field of HIV and STI treatment and prevention in the Southeast United States, an area of the country particularly hard hit by increased incidence of HIV and STIs. Far too often, HIV prevention and treatment work is led by individuals who are not a part of communities most affected by the epidemic. Jae and Christian stand out as crucial participants in this work as they sit at the intersection of identities of communities who bear the brunt of these epidemics, making their contributions to public health work invaluable.
Jae and Christian were both offered a job at a well known health care non-profit organization in the sexual health unit. They uprooted their lives, home, and community in Richmond, Virginia to move to DC for their job, a considerably more expensive city. Within a month of their job, Christian and Jae were approached by a straight man in the office who asked them about what Grindr was and how it worked. Based off this conversation, this employee reported Christian and Jae to HR for using Grindr while on the job, accusing them of leaving work to go hook up with people off the apps. This accusation could not be further from the truth and this incident was an intentional homophobic attack by their colleague.
Christian and Jae were fired from their job without investigation into the accusations. They now have a pending lawsuit against their former place of work, but in the meantime they have been unable to pay rent for months as they scramble to find new jobs in a new city. However, due to the inability to pay rent and exhaustion of savings funds to move to the new city, they are now facing eviction.
I am humbly asking you to help my friends keep their new home which will enable them to thrive in their new community and careers.
