Help BJ Murphy Beat Cancer

 

 

In the past month, our good friend BJ Murphy has been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma, Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has metastasized into his bones including his spine and brain. BJ’s life changed in June when excruciating pain in his hip and back caused him to see an orthopedist. After an MRI, no major injury was found, although dark spots were visible. He was sent to an Oncologist. Radiation started shortly after. Two weeks ago, BJ started chemotherapy and immunotherapy. He is now fighting the biggest fight of his life.

 

This news has come as a shock to the Murphys and everyone that loves BJ. Everyone who knows him, loves him. He is a gentile giant. BJ just turned 50. He grew up in Little Silver and went to Red Bank Regional as a teenager. He continued his education and went to Rutgers. He graduated with a degree in turf grass management. BJ has worked at Rumson County Club for over 35 years. You would always see him on the golf course early in the morning driving a big machine.

 

The Murphys reside in Rumson. BJ has a loving wife Darryn and two beautiful children, Maddie (7) and Liam (17). He loves his family and friends much more than anyone would even know. BJ is an integral part of our community. Since Liam was little, BJ has always coached baseball and basketball, recreational and travel. He is a patient man. He religiously attends every game his children play.

 

We hope to raise funds to help the Murphy family with this unexpected change in their lives. Darryn is now the sole supporter and she is also taking care of BJ. Medical costs should not be an added worry for them. The Murphy family should be able to focus on BJ’s treatment and battling cancer.
