Hi, I'm Nathan Grayson. At least some of you probably know me from Aftermath, the video game website I co-founded alongside several of my friends. But my real passion (sorry, video games) is my cat, Biscuit. She is perfect and beautiful and impossibly sweet; she is also riddled with maladies.
This week, what was meant to be a routine vet visit to finally, decisively get Biscuit's diabetes under control turned into a whirlwind emergency vet all-nighter when it became apparent that Biscuit was suffering from heart failure. The good news is, thanks to an incredibly kind, extremely on-top-of-it ER staff, it seems like Biscuit is gonna pull through. We're not out of the woods yet, but she's breathing much better, and the cardiologist said her heart issues should be treatable with medication.
Now the bad news: This has all been incredibly expensive (keeping Biscuit overnight at the ER, on its own, cost $8,400), and I foresee additional costs on the horizon given how delicate her new condition is--not to mention her other preexisting conditions. At the very least, I'd like to recoup at least some of the ER cost and, ideally, prepare for whatever's to come.
That said, I also hate asking for help this way, so contribute whatever you can, or nothing at all. (In lieu of money, well wishes are also fine!) The goal is just a goal. I'm not expecting to hit it. I've already spent years asking people to give money to my website; if you're among those who have, and that's all you can offer, you've done more than enough.
Biscuit means the world to me. She's been my constant companion for half a decade--my perfect, brainless daughter who charms every living soul she meets. I've done everything in my power to keep her alive and happy despite the growing number of constraints that's put on me in terms of travel, daily schedule, and life in general. She's a stubborn little fighter, and she's clearly not ready to go yet. So we'll fight together, until the bitter end.
