On January 30th I crashed my car. If you know me then you know that car is my absolute pride and joy(besides my kids). I have spent so much time, money, and effort on this vehicle. It meant the absolute world to me. This car was a big part of our family. My kids have watched me struggle to keep it on the road and have watched me be filled with joy after fixing it. This car meant a lot to all of us.
I was driving to my girlfriend's house and had my windows cracked because I needed fresh air but my son was cold, so I looked down to turn the heat on and make sure he was okay and by the time I looked up traffic had came to a dead stop. When I slammed on the brakes my brake booster failed and I had no way to stop in time. It took less than 2 seconds to lose the only thing in this world that was actually mine.
I am absolutely devastated by this and if I could go back and change it I would but I can't. I unfortunately just recently lost my job and had to lower my coverage to no fault, which ONLY covers injuries in the event of a crash, and none of the car. I am just asking if people could find it in their heart to help me replace my pride and joy. My son and I are fine, there was no injuries but the car is toast. It's a Volvo and insurance just doesn't like putting repaired Volvos back on the road so I am completely screwed.
Between my girlfriend and I we have 4 kids that are all school age and have to be taken care of. I cannot do that without a vehicle. I am not asking for much, literally just enough to get something safe and reliable to get them to and from school and doctors appointments and to be able to go grocery shopping and all that. It's winter in MI right now and Michigan winters are absolutely brutal.
The depression I am facing right now after losing my prized possession is almost too much to bear. That car was everything I had.
If you can donate that would be amazing but if not, a share would absolutely mean the world to me
