Help Biniyam Traumatic Brain Injury
Donation protected
Binyam Assefa is a 21-year-old senior studying computer science at Jackson State University. On February 11, 2024, while traveling to Jackson, Mississippi, after mourning his father's passing, he was involved in a devastating car accident. He sustained a significant head injury that left him unconscious for months. He was admitted to UMMC on February 12 with a traumatic brain injury and a subdural hematoma. Neurosurgeons performed invasive surgery to elevate a depressed skull fracture and remove devitalized brain tissue. After spending few months in the intensive care unit and on the neurology floor, he is now able to breathe and eat on his own but suffers from cognitive and physical impairments. He remains debilitated and unable to care for himself, work, or attend school. Binyam has a long recovery journey ahead of him. As an international student from Ethiopia, his family and most of his support system are far away. We are launching this campaign to seek financial support to help cover his medical expenses, including inpatient physical and neurological rehabilitation therapy to aid in regaining his physical and cognitive abilities, as well as ongoing therapy and daily living costs. Any and all donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you, and God bless!
