Hi, my name is Callie, and I’m asking for help for my sweet Italian Greyhound, Bing Bong. Bing Bong is almost one year old and is the most loving, social little soul I’ve ever known. All he wants in life is to be next to you—snuggling, playing, and giving kisses. He loves meeting everyone on walks: cats, dogs, adults, and especially kids. He just wants to love on every living thing he sees. He even gets recognized around town because of how friendly and joyful he is. On Saturday, our world turned upside down. Italian Greyhounds are unfortunately very prone to leg breaks, and Bing Bong fractured his left leg simply by jumping off a patio chair onto concrete. The moment it happened, his leg snapped. His screams were absolutely heartbreaking. I will never forget the sound. There was nothing I could do but hold him, cry with him, and tell him it would be okay—that we would get him better.
We rushed him to the emergency vet, where we were told he would need emergency surgery to repair his leg. Thankfully, they worked with us by giving him pain medication and sedation, setting the leg, and taking X-rays so we could follow up with his regular vet on Monday. My hope and prayer is that it might heal on its own, but realistically, it looks like he will need a plate and screws. We’re expecting treatment to be costly at our regular vet. I’m also terrified he could break his other leg by compensating, though I’m trying not to spiral over something that hasn’t happened yet. Financially, six months ago this wouldn’t have been an issue. But this year has tested us in every possible way—financially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Every time we think we’ve caught a break, another major setback hits. To get Bing Bong emergency care, I used our rent money and still owe the emergency vet. I’ve broken down crying more times than I can count. I want to save my precious dog, but I also have rent to pay and two boys to care for. I hate asking for help, but I don’t know what else to do. Bing Bong is family. He deserves a chance to heal, to run again, and to keep being the joyful little light he is. Any amount helps—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping my sweet boy. With gratitude, Callie
