Support Billy’s Jaw Surgery and Medical Care ❤️‍

Hello everyone, I’m Stephany and this GoFundMe was made for Billy, a rescue cat. Billy used to belong to one of our neighbors. Unfortunately, said neighbors didn’t like that Billy was too affectionate, vocal, and simply just for being a silly cat who does cat things, and didn’t want to continue caring for him. So they threw him out. An indoor cat turned stray and left to his own luck out in our community. We don’t live in the safest environment; we are the only apartment complex in our vicinity and we have a recycling center and a construction site about 20 ft away from us with heavy commercial traffic. Billy became frightened and skittish of people, so it was a process to socialize him and gain his trust so that we could rehome him. We noticed Billy went missing for a few days between 11/02/2024 - 11/05/2024. It wasn’t until we found him a few days later on 11/06/2024 with severe wounds on his eyes, nose, and mouth. We are very lucky to have found him alive, injured, but alive. Most cats in our area don’t share the same fate. We took him in and began to care for and clean his wounds. His eyes were swollen shut and his breathing was labored. His mouth was in the worst shape with a lot of blood and scabs coming out of it. When the swelling subsided, we realized Billy’s jaw was broken and it was the reason he could not eat or drink unassisted. We reached out to rescues and nearby clinics hoping one offered help. Most LA rescues are full of other animals who need help, so a majority directed us to other places that could help us.

We finally found a foundation, Sam Simon Foundation, that said while his injuries were too complex they could refer us to LA Pet Clinic, a place that would accept him fast and help kickstart his recovery. Dr. Reina accepted Billy and confirmed his jaw was broken. The staff was very friendly and understanding and saddened by what Billy had gone through. We were quoted $1,300.00 for Billy’s jaw repair surgery and other medical costs. While Billy wasn’t planned for, we didn’t want him to stay out there and remain injured. We took him in and deposited the amount we had on hand. We are applying to medical grants that can help cover the bill, but unfortunately, we haven’t garnered enough funds to pay the bill, which is why this GoFundMe was made. Billy surgery has gone successfully and his healing journey is expected to last 4-6 weeks. He will need care and a soft food only diet for these following weeks.

So far, $600/$1,300.00 has been paid for. Billy will have incurring medical expenses that we can pay for in the future but as of right now, we really need your help to pay the remaining balance on his bill so that Billy can come home.
