Billy is an older male Muscovy duck who was abandoned by his owner at Kenneth Hahn Park. Despite his difficult start, Billy quickly became a favorite among the local ducks and the caring ladies who visited the park daily to feed and look after him. Their kindness gave Billy a sense of belonging, but his challenges were far from over.

Several days ago, Billy suffered a serious leg injury that left him unable to walk. Because domestic Muscovy ducks can't fly far and Billy couldn't run to the water for safety, he was left vulnerable to predators like raccoons and coyotes. Fearing for his life, the ladies reached out to me for help. When I took Billy in, it became clear that his injury was severe and required immediate veterinarian care.

Billy now needs x-rays, several vet visits, and ongoing medication to help his leg fully heal. He isn't strong enough yet to be with other ducks, so I'm keeping him indoors at night with fresh straw, food, and water, especially during the cold and wet weather. Since Billy was used to eating human snacks, I'm also working to transition him back to a healthy duck diet. I will personally take Billy to all his vet appointments and make sure he gets his medication twice a day.
