Help Billy Speak Again — Stroke Recovery for a Young Father
Billy Anderson was just 39 when a catastrophic stroke changed everything.
A lifelong athlete, clean-living entrepreneur, dedicated husband and loving father of two little girls, Billy had no warning signs. No family history. No red flags. But in 2024, a sudden and unexplained stroke left him fighting for his life, and left his family in shock. He spent his 40th birthday in the ICU.
Billy survived - but his ability to speak did not. He now lives with Broca's Aphasia, a devastating condition where he understands everything, but can’t get the words out. He can no longer run his business. He can’t call his daughters to dinner, cheer at their soccer games, or explain their bedtime story. He can’t tell his wife how much he loves her, or advocate for himself at a doctor’s appointment.
But he hasn't stopped fighting.
In the last year, Billy has made enormous progress:
- He learned to walk again.
- He regained the use of his right side.
- He's showing signs of emotional recovery, despite intense depression and waves of silent frustration.
His doctors now believe there's a window of hope. A month-long intensive speech rehab program in Chicago. They think Billy is strong enough and ready for The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
But insurance won’t cover it. It’s 2000 miles away. And his family is exhausted - financially and emotionally.
That's why we need your help.
Your donation will help cover:
- Uncovered ICU and neurology bills
- Ongoing stroke recovery and seizure-related care
- Two weekly speech therapy sessions per month
- July's Aphasia Program in Chicago (tuition, flights, housing, and caregiver travel)
- A specialized speech device and training software to continue progress at home.
Billy is still Billy. He smiles when his daughters dance in the kitchen. He cooks dinner with one strong hand. He listens carefully, understands completely, and hopes every day to speak again.
Please help give Billy his voice back.
Every dollar gets us closer.
From our family to yours. Thank you.
