Hi , my name is Billy, short for William. I’m a 68 year old gentleman on a cancer journey Sadly all of my government applications for help have been denied because I’m over 65 years of age. Yes this is age discrimination but my appeals will take a long time. I’m in a critical situation right now. I can not survive this situation without help. This is why I’m on GoFundMe. 17 months ago I was diagnosed with stomach and esophagus cancer. I had a 5% chance of surviving. I made it however not being able to work my finances quickly disappeared. My wife is on old age pension and I get 1000 a month. Each month we have used credo cards and a line of credit. We are barely making it. We are falling behind. Our condo maintenance is 1100.00 per month. Due to my physical condition, no stomach and half my esophagus, our groceries are more expensive because my diet is restricted. Compile this with all the other bills I am afraid we may eventually lose our home and become homeless. I lived homeless for 14 years as a youth. By 30 I found my way off the streets. Educated myself and graduated from college with honours as a Social Services Worker. I remember being homeless and returning there scares me. My heart is heavy as I have applied to the government for assistance and because I’m over 65, I have been denied. I am appealing this but it takes time. The funds I am praying for will be used to pay our maintenance fees for 5 months, thus giving me time to find a job that I can do remotely. I use a walker and a cane thus regular employment is hard to obtain. I’m 68 and 140 pounds soaking wet. Not many companies are interested in hiring someone in my condition. I want to, at all cost, save our home from losing it to the condo corporation for failure to pay maintenance fees. 

I am not giving up and will fight through this. My days bring me pain, fear of homelessness, as I know it well, heartache for my wife Carmen, she deserves much better.
