My nephew Billy is just six years old and has recently been diagnosed with Perthes disease—a childhood condition where the blood supply to the top of the thigh bone is disrupted, weakening the bone and affecting the hip joint.

Billy loves football, running around and being active. He now relies on a wheelchair full-time, and so much of what he loves doing has suddenly been taken away from him. The everyday freedom to run, play and join in is something no six-year-old should have to miss.

His life has been turned upside down, yet he remains so strong as he faces changes that are difficult for someone so young to understand.

His parents are doing everything they can to make life feel as normal as possible for him, helping him adapt and making sure he feels loved and supported every step of the way.

I’m raising money to help fund an electric wheelchair so Billy can move around more independently, along with safety equipment and adaptations to make his home safer and easier to navigate. I am also raising funds to help provide regular physio and hydrotherapy sessions. These provisions would help give him back some freedom and make everyday life easier for him and his family.

His parents would never ask for help themselves, so I’m asking on their behalf. We want to support them as they do everything possible to help Billy keep enjoying his childhood.
