Help Billy M. Continue His Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Amy and on my journey in recovery, I have met many great people. Some have helped me in tremendous ways by paving a path before me. Others have helped me by letting me lean on them on my hard days, giving me words of encouragement, and keeping me fighting the good fight when I wanted to give up. One of these people has made a huge impact on my heart, and I have felt called to try to do what I can to support him in his journey as well. With his permission, I would like to share a bit of his story with you.

My friend Billy M. grew up in an abusive household where his brothers and stepmother were alcoholics. Billy lived a sober life, not drinking or doing drugs until the age of 42. Unfortunately, Billy lost his mother, mother-in-law, niece, great-niece, 2 brothers, stepson, 2 uncles, an aunt, and the love of his life, his wife of 17 years... all within 8 months. The grief sent Billy out into what many of us know as the "madness." Like many of us, Billy lost his job, his home, and everything he owned except the clothes on his back. Billy is the kind of loving guy who would have given the shirt off his back to someone in need.

Billy made the decision for himself to get help and was already established at the facility I came to when I decided to find help for myself. As I sat by him in group, I admired how he had his Bible out every morning, filling notebooks upon notebooks with Bible verses. I admired how he walked, not only in his faith but in his recovery as well. Billy has been working very hard on himself. He has been advocating for himself in many ways, and it seems like sometimes, the system may be fighting against him. Billy has been accepted to a sober living home located in Tampa, FL. The facility he is about to graduate from is not the first he graduated from; he was somewhere else prior and graduated from there as well. He wanted to continue working on himself and continue to heal. HE WANTS TO CONTINUE TO RECOVER!!!

So, I am asking for any help. Billy is trying to come up with the money for a bus ticket from Louisville, KY to Tampa, FL. Any and all help would be appreciated!!!
