Billy has been getting back to work, its slow going until he is back to 100% but he is doing pretty good. Its just gonna take a little time after his body struggling so hard. He worked 2 days last week and is going to try to do more this week. Im sure he could possibly use a bit more help until he is back to full checks. His vehicle has broke down 3 times since being released on the 25th.

Last & final update: Billy is finally home!! He does have to go back Monday to have the drain removed. Fingers crossed everything is good from here. They do say appendicitis but its not acute or to a point of surgery. Thank you everyone for your generosity and support for Billy, He... (we) appreciate it!! ❤

Update 4- He does NOT have Crohn's, his white blood cell count is down from 36,000 on Monday to 16,000 today which is great, so the infection is getting better. Surgeon said he wants to watch the drain a couple more days and may be able to leave by the weekend. He is just a little sore from the drain being put in and muscles hurting from having to sleep a little differently with the drain in. Next update will be when he is discharged unless anything else changes.
Update 3- drainage tube is in and doing well. We will know more tomorrow.
Update 2: procedure in the am to drain the abscesses and see if that helps with the infection he has been fighting. Will update tomorrow.
Update 1: GI came in and his biopsies came back and look fine, they said he doesnt have crohn's (thank goodness) he still has inflammation and his white blood cell count is high so we are continuing antibiotics.
Surgeons also came in and said until the inflammation is down they cannot do an appendectomy so that may have to be done out patient if they discharge him. As a mom im worried about him going home and his appendix bursting. They can see the abscesses though and are waiting on Interventional Radiology to come in and talk about draining the fluid from the abscesses which may help with the infection he has. We are getting some answers, well atleast about the crohn's for sure we know its not that its and appendicitis. He still has pain. Still figuring things out but he has been there for 2 weeks not being able to work. I just hope they can get him stable with the pain, inflammation and infection. I will update after IR comes.

Hello, my name is Barbara and I am raising funds for my son Billy. He has had some unexpected medical/health issues come up recently. He went to the hospital on Oct 9th with severe stomach pains and was then transported from a hospital in Harrisonville, Mo to KC and has been at Ku since. He has appendicitis with an abscess on the appendix. His large and small intestines have also been inflamed and at one point was so swollen that the ileum was pretty much closed causing a blockage. The doctors suspect Crohn's, Billy has also been Type 1 Diabetic for 20 years and with his body stressed it has thrown his blood sugars all over the place. So now he possibly has two autoimmune diseases. When he first came in his kidney function was not good but that has finally came down to almost normal. The Surgeons say they cannot safely do an appendectomy or even drain the abscess because of all the inflammation and there is also fluid from the abscess so they cannot see where to go. He has been on antibiotics the whole stay. They started him on solid food Friday night and today had a set back in his condition, he has severe abdominal pain again and has been put on an NPO diet which is basically absolutely nothing except a sip of water with meds. We are not sure now what all is going on or what will be done, they may have to go ahead and take his appendix which would keep him here for a while. If anyone knows my son Billy they know he works his tail off sick or not. It has really hurt him not being able to work and not know when he can go back, regardless he still has bills and now has racked up hospital bills along with having to pay for medications when he is able to leave. Billy does not have health insurance so everything is going to be out of pocket. A social worker is helping with trying to get him medicaid but that wont help with his weekly and monthly bills and he also has children to take care of. If anyone can help him to be able to get by until he can go back to work it would be greatly appreciated, if you cannot donate please share. Thank you, i will update as we find out more.
