Meet baby Billy!!! This cutie was in rough shape when a neighbor in Bed-Stuy reached out for help. After a few weeks of care, he's doing better, but Billy still has a long road ahead of him and medical expenses have already reached nearly $3,000. We need your help to get Billy life-saving care.

Many people hear about the formerly-feral kittens in my bathroom and assume their vet bills are paid through a rescue, but the truth is that it's just me. Most rescue work in Brooklyn is done by everyday cat-lovers (like me) and supported by everyday cat-lovers (like you)!

Over the past year, we've been working with neighbors in Bed-Stuy to TNR (trap, neuter, return) a growing population of feral cats in their yards. We thought we were wrapping up the trapping efforts for this crew until Billy and his brother Vern came along, revealing one last mama who had evaded us.

Billy was the worst off. When I arrived to check out the situation, he was so weak and sick that I ended up scooping him up with my bare hands right then. At barely 2 months old, he already had a horrific ruptured eye, was visibly starving, and was riddled with fleas and worms. It took weeks of care to get him strong enough for eye surgery, but his final blood test before the procedure revealed further complications. We were sent to an oncologist after being told it was cancer. As his concerning symptoms worsen, a slew of negative test results has left Billy in need of a costly bone marrow aspiration, but our resources are running thin.

While caring for Billy and his brother, we've also been trying to TNR their mom. So far, we've only been able to trap their dad, and in the meantime, their mom had another litter...of 4 kittens. More work to be done.
