As a lot of you know, Billy was diagnosed with HSP (Henoch-Schönlein Purpura), now called IgA Vasculitis, is a type of vasculitis (blood vessel inflammation) causing a characteristic rash of raised, reddish-purple spots (purpura) often on legs and buttocks, along with joint pain (arthritis), abdominal pain, and sometimes kidney issues (nephritis), typically triggered by infections in children but can affect adults, usually resolving on its own but needing monitoring for kidney involvement.
Usually this subsides within a few weeks, but due to Billys age, it’s hitting him harder. We got the grim news Christmas Eve that his levels were past the scary point and that we needed to go back to the hospital and undergo a Biopsy on his kidneys to rule out anything more, and what the next treatment plans will be.
Thank you all for all the support we’ve received so far. Unfortunately I’m learning that the hospital bills and medications are all out of pocket because don’t qualify for Medicaid and until I can try to get insurance it’s on us. I’m hoping to make that happen within the next week, but until then we do have medical bills and his immunotherapy that is looking to be about 1000 month for only that. With everyones support we’ve been able to get caught up on the bills we had from Billy last visit and our pediatrician. The uncertainty of this disease is terrifying and anything helps and we’re so grateful for everything we’ve already received. I will keep everyone posted on Billie‘s updates. Hopefully will be heading home soon for outpatient care.
