June is a trans man trying to get to safety with his sister, Billie Jean, who is his sole support system and a fierce ally. For the past four years, since their mom passed away, they have been living with housing instability. Now things have become urgent. Their current housemates have started using hard drugs, leaving June and Billie Jean trapped in their bedrooms for their own physical safety. On top of that, June has been dealing with severe, unexplained seizures since April, which ended his 20-year culinary career and took away his ability to drive. Billie Jean, a brain cancer and TBI survivor, is working massive overtime and trying to secure a job transfer in Portland, but she cannot carry this alone.

They have a real plan to escape this unsafe situation and relocate from Texas to Portland, Oregon, where they already have support through the WERQ program and Housing Connector. This move is not only about immediate safety, but also about getting away from the hostility of Texas politics and finding access to better healthcare. They are selling valuables and their 1969 camper to cover as much as they can, but they still need help with housing deposits, the first three months of rent, and travel expenses to get to Portland with their dogs. They are driving because flying is not an option with the animals, and they are doing everything they can to keep their whole family together through this move. Asking for help feels strange, but any support will go directly toward June and Billie Jean’s safety, health, and future. Please give if you can, and please share this fundraiser with trans and queer mutual aid circles. They fully intend to give back to the community once they are able.
