Hi! I’m Bea and today I’m asking for your help on behalf of Esmeralda (previously named Billie). Yesterday, November 15th, this baby approached us in front of our house asking for help. She was then hiding under a trailer, clearly scared, but we could tell how friendly she was, even though she wouldn’t come out. We also noticed blood on her upper lip.

After patiently helping her come out, we realized she was keeping her left back leg lifted. Thankfully, the vet near our home was open, and we took her in immediately. After an examination and X-rays, the vet confirmed that her left leg is fractured and that the wound on her upper lip was caused by her bottom fang becoming embedded in it. She also has internal bleeding in the peritoneal area and had swallowed a strange object (which we’re very hopeful she’ll be able to pass on her own).

The vet explained that she may have been attacked by another animal, harmed by a person, or lightly hit by a car—her injuries make it difficult to know for sure.

Today, we’re asking for your support with her vet bills for this 2-month-old baby. The vet told us that most people would choose to put her to sleep because she’s so little and fragile, but we are certain she’s going to make it, and so are they!

We have a follow-up appointment next Saturday for another round of X-rays to check whether her leg is healing or if she’ll need surgery. For now, the charges shown in the bill are from her first visit: the exams, X-rays, and medications she received yesterday. The vet was more focused on stabilizing her more than anything, so we haven’t gotten her shots yet.
