Help Bill the Cat with Surgery

Donation protected

Bill (previously named Simba) has had a difficult start to life. It is assumed that he was a stray that was attacked by a dog. Bill has FIV+, meaning that he has feline AIDS and it takes longer to heal. A cat with FIV can live comfortable, long lives! It just means that we have to be a bit careful with any infections he may have and he will need to take medicine to clear it up since his immune system has difficulties clearing it out on its own.

He came to the shelter with double hematomas on his ears, which are why they are folded over similar to a cauliflower ear. He also had eye, ear, and respiratory infections that he was fighting and was on an IV while living with his foster mom.

We adopted Bill on November 29th. He has been the perfect companion for my husband and I!

We wanted to give Bill a great home to live out the rest of his life. He didn't choose the rotten beginning, but we can help make it a happy ending.

We saw he needed help with an eye infection, but we weren't certain about anything else. I had a list of items that I wanted the vet to check (just in case).

We took Bill to the vet on December 5th. It's a good thing that we got him checked up because she found a few things that needed to be addressed.

• He has a bacterial infection in his eyes. He will be on 2 different eye medications for the next week when we go back in for his second appointment.

• He also has an ulcer on his left eye. The vet believes his chronic eye infections are due to his inner eye lids not rolling like they should. She will check next week (after a week of antibiotics) to see if this is actually the case. If it is, Bill will need surgery to fix his lids.

• Bill is being double checked for FIV. The shelter said he was FIV+, but one document said he was negative and nobody seems to know the truth. We will see what the final conclusion is soon!

• Bill has scabs on his ears and face. He is constantly scratching them and making it worse. We received some steroid cream to rub on these. If the scabs on his face stay, then it is most likely skin cancer. We are hoping they disappear in the next month.

• Bill also has a condition where the roots of his teeth are slowly degrading. He will need to have all of them pulled down the line. (We're waiting on this until he gets over his eye infections).

• Bill is also taking L-Lysine to help his immune system, eyes, and respiratory health.

• The good news is that there is no ear infection! They are very dirty and will require regular cleanings since his ears fold over.

Bill is the snuggliest, loving cat. He just wants to cuddle with any and everybody that will let him. Although we were expecting to pay for his eye medications, we were not planning on the possibility of 3 surgeries. After posting about Bill on Reddit, many people reached out asking if there was a GoFundMe for Bill. Some people requested to help with vet bills, and others wanted to splurge on comforting items for Bill to have the best life. We will allocate the funds towards his surgeries unless otherwise specified by the donor!

Our next vet visit will be on December 11th, and we are looking forward to sharing his progress! We're hoping to give him the best healthy Christmas he's ever had! Thank you so much for your donation!
