Hi, my name is Bill Martin and I have ALS.  I have spent my life being very active.  Growing up, I trained for sports; basketball, football, baseball and track.  I lifted weights, trained for half marathons, Tough Mudders, and did Insanity videos in my garage. Then, I found this gym community in January of 2014 and I was hooked!  The programming, the coaches and the amazing members all made me better. I was in the best shape of my life, heading towards 50 and never more fit.  But then in the Fall of 2015, I knew something wasn't right.  I was starting to struggle to keep on weight even though I was consuming 4000 good calories a day. I began to have a hard time holding on to the barbell because my hand strength was diminishing.  I spent the Spring of 2016 getting tested and was finally diagnosed in June of 2016. As the saying goes, it is not an incurable disease, it is an under-funded disease. There are amazing advances being made in other countries and the results are real and life changing for those with access to the treatments.  I will spend the rest of my life creating awareness and raising funds so that this disease can be managed for everyone afflicted.
