As many of you know, Bill & Jen Dean have been facing a really difficult medical journey over the past few years. Bill was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer in both of his lungs despite never being a smoker. After many (many) rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and a whole host of other treatments and drugs, his new care plan is going to require a double lung transplant.

What makes this all the more challenging is that this surgery, with his diagnosis, cannot be done at Mayo Rochester. Instead, Bill & Jen will have to relocate to Chicago, IL to get his transplant and treatment at Northwestern University. This means they both have to be away from the comfort of home, the support of family and friends (and pets) for a whole year while Bill recovers and is treated by his transplant team in Chicago. Obviously, this also means neither Bill nor Jen are able to work, so finances are going to be tight even with insurance and disability.

I (Bill's sister-in-law, Cortney Dean) am setting up this GoFundMe page to help support Bill and Jen while they are navigating his surgery, treatment, and recovery without the benefit of family and friends nearby. This money will help them pay for rent in Chicago, travel, utility, and food expenses while Bill recovers so far away from home. Any amount will be so helpful in assisting Bill & Jen on this difficult, long, and expensive journey.
