I'm Bill Greenhaw. For nine years, I led Tahoe Dreamin', a Salesforce Community Conference that brought our Ohana together in the mountains. Eight conferences total. This wasn't just an event for me. It was my second child. I put everything into it because the Salesforce Community gave me everything, and this was my way of giving back.
The last 2 years hit hard. Rising costs in Tahoe, the economy, it all added up. COVID forced us to move dates around, locking us into multi-year venue contracts we were obligated to complete. Both years produced amazing conferences. 98% of attendees said they'd recommend it, careers were launched, friendships were made, and the community showed up. But both years, I had to personally pay for things to make it happen. Not everything, but we didn't always have the funds to fully pay me back.
Here's what's happening: The majority of the Tahoe Dreamin' venue debt is being handled. Very soon, I'll be announcing something incredible. A huge thank you to an amazing supporter of the Salesforce Community who is stepping up in a way that honors what we built together. This GoFundMe is only about paying myself back for what's on my credit cards from keeping those conferences running.
I'm not going to lie. Asking for help like this goes against everything in me. I've never thought I'd do something like this. I'm the type of person who believes when you get yourself into a situation, you handle it yourself. But people I trust, people smarter than me, told me the community would want to help. They convinced me. This is still incredibly hard.
What I’m trying to do is raise enough to pay myself back for what’s still on my credit cards from keeping those conferences running. If people are generous enough to go beyond that, anything extra will go to my son’s college fund—but honestly, just helping me with this would mean the world.
And because I can't just take without giving back: I'm releasing the Library File Manager on GitHub (https://github.com/sfToolboxApps/LibraryFileManager/). It's a free Salesforce tool that solves the pain of moving files between libraries and folders. This tool has nothing to do with this GoFundMe. It's free for everyone, whether you donate a dollar or nothing at all. It's my way of continuing to give back to this community, my Ohana, because that's what we do for each other.
