Help Bill & family on the fight for his life!

Hello to everyone! About a week ago the Kanowitz family went to Mayo and met with Bills doctor. As they found out, Bill's current treatment is no longer working. His amyloid is rapidly advancing. Amyloid is crafty like that and learns to work around the chemos and treatments. As of now, there are no further treatments specifically for Amyloid, Bill has exhausted all available. There are two brand new treatments that are designated for multiple myeloma. Bill's doctor feels that it is worth trying. Both pack some pretty serious side effects and are an aggressive form of treatment. Bispecific therapy is the treatment they are trying as his doctor believes he needs the treatment they can start the soonest. The other involves 3 months of preparing for. This would involve a daily infusion which would attract Bills T cells, and upon them nearing the med they would be destroyed. This treatment would be daily and can be used for only one year. Here are the negatives; the side effects of both are very concerning. Cytokine release syndrome, immune effector cell–associated neurotoxicity syndrome, cytopenias, and serious infections. He stressed the common neurological irreversible side effects for both. They have to be at the Mayo for 30 days at least for treatment starting as soon as NEXT WEEK, as the first sign of any of the above they would need to hospitalize Bill immediately and begin treating.

Bill was sunshine and rainbow Bill during the appointment... hugging Dr. Leung, and tearing up as he said, " I'm so thankful for you. I love you Dr Leung and trust you. You've kept me here this long!" They are optimistic but rather scared. A little ptsd from last time... but thankful something is left to try.

As Bill and Shanda lost their beloved Trav just 3.5 years ago holidays as you can imagine are always hard. Please help me uplift Bill, Shanda, Cody, and Rose during this time. And as we all think what life is about around this holiday season, and I know it can feel overwhelming at times... I just want to remind everyone what it truly is about and that it is a time of God showing His great love, and how Jesus came to give us love, hope and joy. It can also be a time of healing and renewed strength. For anyone that can offer any amount of financial generosity for housing they will need to secure in Rochester for this extended period of time / medical expenses and/or prayers during this time ahead as they ALL put their brave pants on, is very much appreciated.

2 Corinthians 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Bless you all!
