Hello, my name is Kristina Evans. I’m currently raising funds to help with lawyer and court fees for my father, Bill Evans.

On 4/17/2026, my father was arrested for charges my mother pressed. I don’t even know where to start while trying to explain how we got here.

My little sister, Melissa Evans, unexpectedly passed away last year on 4/21/2025. While no parent should ever have to make decisions about burying their child, my mother stepped into the picture to help with arrangements regarding my sister's passing. My father and mother had not been in contact for about 10 years, while my sister, myself, and 2 other siblings have not been in contact with our mother for about 5 years. My siblings and I have expressed the abuse (mental, physical, and sexual) that we endured on behalf of our mother and her husband. While dealing with the loss of his daughter, more information came out about the abuse my late sister Melissa endured by her mother and stepfather.

Unfortunately, the grief and anger got the best of my father, and he expressed some words to my mother about her husband that would be considered threatening. On that note, my mother pressed the charges in Florida (where she resides).

My father was unaware of the warrant and was sent with emergency crews down south to Arkansas and Louisiana at the end of January 2026 to help with the snow and ice storms. While away for 3+ weeks, we are assuming the original warrant was served during that time. He then was arrested with a warrant for Fugitive of Justice because my father was not in the state when the original warrant was served. Now, because the charges were filed in Florida, although my father resides in Metro Detroit, he will be extradited to Florida to face the charges.

It is not in my nature to ask for help, especially financially. My surviving siblings and I are all spread out in different states. I had unexpected car expenses and needed to purchase a new car, along with a second vehicle since my significant other and I have been relocated to different restaurants after the closure of Bahama Breeze. Since we have just started our new careers, and my father is unable to work, we do not have the means financially to support the unexpected legal fees for a defense attorney, court fees, along with traveling to Florida to help stand in his defense.

My father is a stand-up guy. He has been there for all of my siblings, including myself. We have him to thank for helping us get out of the abuse and being able to start our lives over in Michigan. My father has worked under the same union vigorously for over 20 years. He has no prior convictions or run-ins with law enforcement. He is truly all I have left here in Michigan after my sister passed away.

It breaks my heart to see him going through this, in a time where he should be able to memorialize and honor his late daughter for her first death anniversary. He is instead awaiting extradition to a state he’s unfamiliar with, for letting his anger and grief get the best of him while trying to defend his late daughter to her abusers. He doesn’t deserve to be sitting in jail without a chance. My hands are currently tied, and I am looking to sell some of my father’s assets (including his truck) to maybe help with unexpected costs, but really I have no idea what to expect with all of this.
