Help Bill and Darla Through This Medical Crisis
Donation protected
I am humbly reaching out on Bill and Darla Gurley’s behalf to ask for your support during their time of need. Bill has been unexpectedly admitted into the Advanced Cardiac Care Unit at the Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. His stay will be for an undetermined amount of time. He is being evaluated for a possible Heart Transplant. We know that he will be inpatient for at least 7 days for the evaluation. With how far the disease has progressed, and his current state of health, if he is a candidate for the transplant, it is likely he will stay in patient until he can receive the donor heart. If/when he receives a heart he will be in the hospital for post op recovery for an undetermined amount of time as well. Darla needs to be by his side during this time to learn how to become a caregiver for a heart transplant patient and for moral support. She will not be working, so there will not be an income coming in. There are other unexpected costs as well such as travel and food expenses while being over 2 hours from home. Also Bill’s insurance only covers 80% of medical services, surgeries and hospital stays. This all adds up very quickly. The last thing I want is for them to be worrying about these unexpected expenses while Bill is fighting this hard fight. Please consider helping them at their time of need, even just emotional support right now is helpful. Thank you again for all of you.
8-23-24 Update: Just your daily update: Bill is having a Swan Procedure performed this afternoon. This will give the Doctors a more accurate reading of his cardiac output while he is here. They said this procedure will take about 2 hours. He had an echocardiogram of his heart this morning and that showed is ejection fraction has dropped from 30% down to 20%. I will update everyone after this next procedure.
