Hi everyone,
My name is Lisette, and I’m from Chicago, Illinois. I’ve created this fundraiser to support Bilal — an artist, musician, and recent engineering graduate from Gaza. I am in direct contact with Bilal and will personally oversee the safe and transparent transfer of all funds to him.
Bilal has survived every war in Gaza over the past two decades — 2008, 2012, 2014, 2020, 2021 — but nothing could have prepared him for the devastation of the 2023 war, the deadliest and most destructive of all.
In this war, Bilal lost nearly everything:
- His older and younger brothers
- His best friend and his sister’s husband, leaving behind an orphaned child
- His art and music studio — the space that was his creative refuge
- His Oud, the traditional instrument through which he expressed his deepest emotions
Despite such unimaginable loss, Bilal has continued to do what he can to help others. He taught art to children and created music to uplift those around him. But now, Bilal himself is in crisis. He is facing severe food and water shortages, and his weight has dropped from 69 kg to 53 kg due to hunger.
How the Funds Will Be Used:
All donations will be withdrawn by me and sent directly to Bilal to provide immediate and essential support.
Funds will help with:
- Emergency shelter and daily living necessities (food, clean water, clothing)
- Medical care and recovery from extreme weight loss and trauma
- Tools and materials to help Bilal restore his ability to make art and music — a vital part of his healing and identity
Bilal is a resilient and talented young man whose dreams and voice deserve to survive this war. Your support can help him regain safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild his life and continue sharing his art with the world.
Thank you so much for standing with Bilal during this critical time.
