A Story from Beneath the Ashes – A Cry from Gaza
"I used to defend human rights… today, I search for someone to defend mine."
My name is Bilal, I’m 29 years old, a human rights lawyer living in Gaza with my family.
I’ve spent years defending justice, dignity, and the oppressed…
But today, I find myself without shelter, without food, and without a voice — except for this plea.
We once lived a simple life, dreaming of safety, a warm meal, and a blanket on cold nights.
But war has taken everything from us.
For months, we’ve been displaced over and over again.
We flee death, search for shelter, carry what remains of our lives, and survive one day at a time… if that.
Have you ever seen a single onion cost $30?
The situation here is beyond belief. Prices are cruelly out of reach:
Potatoes: $30/kg
Eggplants: $18/kg
Tomatoes: $17/kg
One onion: $30
Cucumbers: $18/kg
Peppers: $25/kg
Cooking oil: $40/liter
Lentils: $19/kg
Sugar: $70/kg
And there is no gas for cooking — we use wood and fire, as if we’ve gone back centuries.
We collect scraps of wood from the streets, break them, burn them… and wait for a miracle.
Even money… is not enough
When someone sends me $100 from abroad, I receive only $53 due to extremely high withdrawal fees (47%).
Imagine being trapped from every direction — even your aid arrives broken.
We’re not asking for life anymore… just a chance to survive
I am not writing for pity, but to appeal to your humanity.
All we need now is a chance — to stay standing, to find a meal, to feel that the world still hears us.
Please Help… Save a Life Under Siege
I am a lawyer who once believed in justice. Now I’m living its absence.
Your donation — no matter how small — can be a lifeline.
It could mean bread, a bottle of oil, or simply a moment of mercy in a silent world.

My name is Jennifer Allred, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Bilal—a 29-year-old father, husband, and dedicated human rights lawyer—who is desperately trying to keep his family alive in Northern Gaza.
Bilal has spent his life advocating for justice and human dignity. Now, he finds himself in the unimaginable position of fighting for his own family’s survival. Trapped in Northern Gaza—an area suffering from the most extreme food shortages and constant danger—Bilal, his wife, and their children are facing starvation, illness, and daily terror under siege.
Food is nearly impossible to find. What little is available is being sold at impossibly high prices. Clean water, medicine, and basic supplies are scarce. Despite the grave risks, Bilal continues to care for others around him, but he urgently needs our help to provide for his own loved ones.
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Emergency food and water
• Basic necessities for his children
• Medicine and medical treatment
• Any possibility of safer shelter or relocation
This situation is urgent and life-threatening. Every dollar helps Bilal give his children one more day of safety and nourishment.
Please donate if you can—and if you can’t, please share.
From my heart, thank you for standing with Bilal and his family.
— Jennifer Allred
