I am starting this GoFundMe for Bil, Shanon, and Cole Schmidtknecht. Bil and Shanon lost Cole, their 22-year-old son, due to a PBM formulary manipulation that made Cole's asthma inhaler go from $70 to $538, which he couldn't afford. He suffered a severe asthma attack and on the way to the hospital went into cardiac arrest and was in the ICU for several days. Bil and Shanon have had medical issues. Despite their grief, they have been dedicated to PBM reform, meeting with legislators at the federal level and in multiple states. Bil and Shanon were recently awarded the National Patient Advocate of the Year. Bil had changed careers and last year was working as a patient advocate for a transparent PBM, but due to budget issues, Bil was let go.

I have watched them personally work and travel to help others and help with health care reform around the country. I hope we can all say thank you and help them with their needs.
