Help Bigglesworth Walk Again
Donation protected
Meet Bigglesworth — my feisty, cuddly, three-legged wonder dog who has been the heartbeat of my home since July 2020.
I rescued Bigglesworth during the height of COVID. She had been abused, abandoned, and left by the side of the road with a shattered front leg. Her rescue team fought to save her, and we were lucky enough to meet her just as she was beginning to heal. It was love at first sight.
Despite everything she had endured, Biggles had the brightest spirit — playful, loving, endlessly snuggly. She brought me so much joy and emotional support when I needed it most. But her front leg never fully healed. The pins and rods used to repair the bone were too much for her tiny frame, and after months of therapy and failed regrowth, I made the hard but right choice to amputate. She became a proud and mighty tripod — and for four beautiful years, she thrived.
Now, Bigglesworth is facing a new challenge.
She’s recently been struggling to stand on her back legs, and today we learned why: she has stage IV luxating patella in both back knees. Her kneecaps are permanently dislocated and cannot be repositioned. She’s in pain, unable to walk with ease, and losing the mobility that gives her freedom and joy.
The good news? Surgery can help. In fact, our vet believes she has a 90% chance of full recovery — the chance to run, play, and enjoy life again. At only 9 years old, Biggles still has so much love and life ahead of her. Chihuahuas often live to 18 or 19 — we just need your help getting her there.
As for me… I work full time and have also been a caregiver for over four years to someone who battled cancer, reached remission, and is now transitioning into an assisted living facility. It’s been a long road, and Bigglesworth has been by my side through every moment — a constant source of comfort, joy, and strength.
I’m not in a position to cover the cost of her surgery alone, but I can’t imagine life without her. She’s been there for me. Now I want to be there for her.
If you can give any amount, even $1, you’ll be helping Bigglesworth get the care she needs to live a long, happy, pain-free life. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of our story.
With gratitude and puppy kisses,
Heather & Bigglesworth ❤️
