Help Big Vlad Fight Cancer

We are raising funds for Vladimir Yakovlevich Ufimtsev ("Big Vlad") as he battles lung and brain cancer. Big Vlad was diagnosed with lung cancer in Fall 2020. With radiation and chemotherapy, he was able to beat the tumors down to a reasonable level. Unfortunately, in December 2021, his condition severely deteriorated, and he was diagnosed with brain tumors in January 2022. He is currently undergoing further treatment.

 

Big Vlad is the coach of Olympic and World Champion Vladimir Novikov. Big Vlad was the National Gymnastics Coach for Scotland (men and women, 1992-1998) and a National Gymnastics Coach for Great Britain (men 1998-2000). Since 2001, he has been working in the USA.

 

Big Vlad has been a beloved coach to so many gymnasts throughout his life and his passion for coaching can only be matched by his skill and creativity (if you know, you know). Hardworking, inspired, consistent, and oftentimes painfully stubborn, Big Vlad is an extraordinary individual who deserves the best chance at recovery the world may offer. He and his family are taking things one day at a time and finding joy in small victories today.
