For eight years, Big Splash Swim School has been dedicated to saving lives and spreading the joy of swimming. Since 2017, we’ve taught hundreds of students — from infants to grandparents, including children with disabilities and autism — how to survive, thrive, and fall in love with the water. In 2022, we found a home at a facility in Katy, TX, where our mission of drowning prevention and water confidence continued to grow. Families from every background joined us to learn, and our students became living proof that with patience, guidance, and practice, everyone can learn to swim.
This spring, our journey took an unexpected turn. The facility we’d been using closed suddenly, leaving us without a pool almost overnight. As we worked to find a solution, life delivered even more challenges: I was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, Coach Rudy became seriously ill, and my wife and I faced the heartbreak of a miscarriage. Despite these hardships, we refused to stop. By God’s grace, we kept teaching this summer using our apartment pool and an outdoor community pool. Weather delays and limited space made it tough, but thanks to the families who stood by us, we built momentum that we are determined to carry forward into our own facility.
Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in children, yet it is 100% preventable with the right education. We believe swimming isn’t just a sport — it’s a life skill every person deserves. Our classes serve babies, toddlers, parents, competitive swimmers, and children with disabilities through adaptive programs. With your help, we can secure a permanent indoor pool, purchase training tools and adaptive equipment, offer scholarships, and expand our special needs programs. Every donation moves us closer to building a safe, inclusive swim school where everyone is welcomed and supported. Please donate, share, and help us make a Big Splash again. Together, we can keep our community safe, strong, and swimming.
